| Lindy Longhurst For several years through much travel, exposure to different cultures and spirituality Lindy has been exploring her creativity in the expression of mandalas. Originally with a background in landscape architecture and design she now works as an artist . Her works include a series of 12 mandalas based on the Zodiac, a series of 6 mandalas based on Australian landscapes and a series based on the 7 Chakras. All of these works are available as greeting cards and are distributed nationally within Australia. As well as these works she has created over 100 Personalised Mandalas for individuals and couples and is currently working on a series of fairy tale mandalas, and new works on canvas. Lindy has had four solo exhibitions in Europe and Australia and her work has also been published in magazines in Australia and the US. |
| I began making mandalas some years ago after much travel, exposure to different cultures and spiritual beliefs and a reawakening to nature. My influence for the creation of the mandalas is based on a strong connection with the earth - to the natural elements, and an exploration into the conscious and subconscious worlds via dreams and meditation. Making mandalas is a spontaneous process full of surprise and wonder. It is a natural meditation from which all sorts of symbols, shapes, colours, forms, and themes unravel and combine to provide perfectly integrated and profound stories. Sometimes the themes and elements are well known but often they emerge from somewhere hidden - this combined with the here and now produces little treasures offering insight, joy and wisdom leading to further discovery and inspiration. |
